Exhibit - Fulgencio Lazo

Tuesday, 14 September - Saturday, 02 October 2010
Jacob Lawrence Gallery, UW Art Building

Oaxacan artist Fulgencio Lazo is an exceptional painter whose work is firmly grounded in a unique and fine perception of his own cultural origins. Fueled by discipline and an uncompromising devotion to his craft, his expression has attained an amazing level of maturity. Lazo brandishes his brush in celebration of life, much like the women that float perpetually in his paintings, heralding with their trumpets a time of harmony and hope. This show is held in conjunction with the bicentennial of Mexican independence with help from the Mexican Consulate, the Department of American Ethnic Studies, and Casa Latina.
